Not a happy
New Year for me right now, more like nightmare time. My house and place here in
Brittany, which I love so much, has changed in a few hours from paradise to
hell.
Due to a
storm, on 23 December, the level of the adjacent river rose two meters within a
few hours. The dike that was supposed to protect us did not held, the house was
completely flooded ! The damage on the ground floor is huge!
Words fail
to describe what we went through this past thirteen days. The shock and distress are not easy to cope with. And it is not over yet because it continues to rain.
I don’t know
what I will do in the future, I love this place but the fear I feel right now for another flood is very strong!
Maybe,
later, when everything has calmed down, I will be able to put this event into perspective,
but for now I'm speechless. It will therefore be very quiet on this blog for a
while...
Be safe and take good care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThis is unthinkable! I am so so sorry for your loss and this terrible trouble, I have almost no words. I hope your situation gets better soon and I wish you strength to cope with all the matter of repairing the damage that was done by the flood. Maybe the thought that no one was hurt can comfort you a bit. Wishing you good!

Happy New Year to all
So sorry to hear of the damage to your home and your unhappy Christmas. I live on the Isle of Wight - not so far from you - where there has also been rain, rain, more rain and some places have flooded. I wish you a Happy New Year anyway, and hope you will soon have it cleared up and be feeling safe and comfortable in your home again.
ReplyDeleteThis is so extremely crushing to hear. I am so very sorry that you have to endure this as a sense of place and sanctuary is everything. This time will pass, but in the interim, try to take good care of yourself and keep your health optimal. Warmest wishes from Sofia, Abigail
ReplyDeletehow vulnerable you must have felt in the face of the flood. I hope all this crazy weather settles soon.
